InfoSol Successfully
Completes Two XI R2 Migrations
|
InfoSol completed two successful
classic BusinessObjects migrations to XI R2 at the beginning of April.
Both customers were previously running
BusinessObjects full client implementations under release 6.5, and both decided
they would standardize on Web Intelligence under XI R2 going forward.
The first client, based in New Jersey, had over
3,000 full client BusinessObjects reports and decided to bring them over to
Desktop Intelligence under XI R2 rather than migrate them to Web Intelligence.
The strategy is to replace these reports with Web Intelligence over time as
they need to be enhanced and to create all new reports going forward using Web
Intelligence.
The customer also decided to modify their existing
6.5 security model for XI R2. Some changes were required and the migration,
despite the number of items to be moved, went quite smoothly. The migration was
completed over a 2 month period with InfoSol providing a combination of up
front education, on-site assistance, and remote support.
The second client, based in Arizona, set up a
completely new environment for XI R2 with Web Intelligence. They created new
reports in Web Intelligence, along with converting existing full client 6.5
reports to Web Intelligence, using the conversion tool delivered with XI R2.
About half the reports converted without issues, but the other half required
manual intervention. Again, InfoSol provided the up front XI R2 administration
training and the on-site services for installing, configuring, migrating, and
converting the full client documents to Web Intelligence.

QUESTION:
How do I format a Month Number to a Month Name?
ANSWER:
Most of our date conversions come directly from a date.
If given just the month number, however, you must first convert the number into
a valid date format and then you may use the FormatDate() function to convert
the date into your preferred format.
To convert a month number into a month name:
= FormatDate(ToDate(<Month Number>+"/1/2004","m/d/yyyy"),"Mmmm")
To convert a month number and year combination into the format of
periods as they appear in many modular databases such as Oracle Financials:
=FormatDate(ToDate(<Month
Number>+"/1/"+<Year>,"m/d/yyyy"),"Mmm-yy")
