InfoSol Announces Full Report Bursting and Dashboard Publishing Solution for New BusinessObjects Mid-Market Offering: BOCD

Phoenix - April 6, 2007:

InfoSol released a full report bursting and publishing dashboard distribution add-on solution to the new BusinessObjects Crystal Decisions (BOCD) mid-market bundle today. The add-on, called InfoBurst-BOCD, provides full one-pass report bursting and publishing capabilities for Web Intelligence and Crystal Reports that can be used with BOCD.

Now with InfoBurst-BOCD, it will be possible to run any Web Intelligence or Crystal Report with the new mid-market offering and intelligently split it into different sections and distribute those sections to different groups of users, in different formats, to a variety of destinations, including a Shared Network drive, Web Server, FTP Server, WebDav Server, the BusinessObjects Repository, E-Mail or a Network Printer. In addition, Xcelsius dashboards can also be automatically scheduled, distributed and connected back to a live data source.

InfoBurst-BOCD also includes powerful e-mail distribution capabilities, like sending a report or dashboard as either embedded in the e-mail itself or as an attachment with compression and encryption options. The solution also includes comprehensive logging and monitoring, so that it is possible to monitor bursts and distributions real-time, as well as automatically notifying an administrator if any action fails. There is also a distribution log to validate that a report or dashboard was delivered to a destination at a particular time and an audit log to see who did what, when. These last two features are very helpful for Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPPA compliance.

The InfoBurst-BOCD offering is immediately available for any customer using BusinessObjects Crystal Decisions in the same 5-CAL to 20-CAL license form as BOCD itself.

Xcelsius Dashboard with Connectivity POC's in Demand

With the recent release of the new XI R2 Productivity Pack from Business Objects, there are now several viable methods for providing this connectivity quickly and effectively.

The new Live Office in XI R2 allows data content in both Crystal and Web Intelligence reports to be fed through Excel into Xcelsius. This includes utilizing parts, like crosstabs, directly from the reports.

In addition, the new Query as a Web Service (QaaWS) option, that is also available with the XI R2 Productivity Pack, provides a functionality to directly access data through a BusinessObjects universe, using a query panel, so that data can be retrieved real-time into any application, such as Xcelsius, then can consume data through a web service. Finally, the InfoBurst XDS solution from InfoSol, provides another effective and scalable method for retrieving data directly from a raw data source or through a query in BusinessObjects, Web Intelligence or Crystal Reports and transforming it for direct usage within Xcelsius.

New Productivity Pack and SP2 Available with XI R2 this Month

In conjunction with releasing the latest Service Pack for XI R2, Business Objects is also releasing a Productivity Pack of new features and functionality.

Heading up the new functionality is enhancements to the Live Office product, which include a new query panel that allows you to retrieve data directly from a data source, through a BusinessObjects query panel, using a universe into Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint or Word. In addition, Live Office now allows you to select (highlight) and retrieve report parts, like a chart or a crosstab table, directly from a Web Intelligence report. This significantly improves the feasibility of using Live Office as a data connection option for Xcelsius dashboards.

The Productivity Pack also includes a new Query as a Web Service (QaaWS) tool that provides a wizard based interface with a query panel to retrieve data through a universe and transform it into a format available as a Web Service. This is ideal for real-time data retrieval for products like Xcelsius and other applications that can utilize a Web Service.

Another new functionality available with the Productivity Pack is a new search feature for intelligent searching within your BusinessObjects environment for any type of content. The new "Search Content" function, within InfoView, allows you to search both the data and metadata content of your repository. The results are ranked by a relevancy score and uses smart categorization to help navigate them more easily. The search capability goes even further, when encountering a search for an existing metric that does not exist, by automatically generating a new query or document based on the search criteria.

The new XI R2 Productivity Pack is definitely worth checking out.
