InfoSol Offers Business Intelligence Environment Audits for All Shapes and Sizes

While Business Intelligence remains one of the highest priorities in most corporations and institutions today, most businesses are still struggling to implement it effectively. Surprisingly, this is as much the case in older implementations as it is in new ones.

Business Intelligence tools often become nothing more than report generators for production or ERP applications. In addition, many sites have poorly designed or no Data Warehouses or Data Marts to take full advantage of the multi-dimensional analysis capabilities of Business Intelligence tools. While the I.T. department is usually responsible for the implementation and support of the BI environment, they often find it hard to educate the business users on how to really take advantage of the BI tools and capabilities and become self-sufficient.

With over 12 years of end-to-end Business Intelligence implementation and consulting experience, InfoSol has helped many businesses to achieve the full potential from their BI investment. While no two environments are ever the same, InfoSol has enabled businesses with BI environments of all shapes and sizes to really benefit from using Business Intelligence more effectively.

Today, InfoSol offers Business Intelligence Environment Audits for every type of implementation. The audit involves looking at all aspects of the environment from the data sources, structures, views and design, to the user interface, experience and knowledge.

Intelligent Cache Enables Bigger and Better Dashboards

As data visualization and animated dashboards become an integral part of the new standard for the Business Intelligence interface, Xcelsius is being explored and adopted by more and more businesses. While simple summary dashboards are easy to develop and deploy, businesses and users are looking for more solutions that involve accessing larger amounts of data, real-time information and deploying to bigger audiences.

This often requires more advanced techniques, in both the design of the dashboard and the methods to access the data.

InfoBurst-XDS has proven to be a leading solution in this area, providing the ability to automatically pull data directly from a database or through an existing BusinessObjects query in XML format and transform it into the inputs required for the Xcelsius dashboard components. A new advanced feature has recently been added to InfoBurst-XDS that takes the functionality to another level.

InfoBurst-XDS can retain any number of XML data ranges in cache on a server. The new feature, known as Intelligent Cache, allows you to select parts of the cache for loading into the dashboard. You can choose a single range, multiple ranges, filter on selected values, return selected columns, change the order of the columns, return unique values for populating a listbox and much more.

    View this dashboard in action.

The Intelligent Cache enables you to overcome Xcelsius limitations that sometimes occur when retrieving too many rows of data or the number of formulas used in the Xcelsius model and can result in poor performance.
