Business Objects Announces New Mid-Market BI Offering: BOCD

Business Objects unveiled a new Business Intelligence packaged offering in February specifically aimed at smaller to medium sized businesses.

The new offering, called Business Objects Crystal Decisions (BOCD), provides a powerful combination of Web Intelligence, Crystal Xcelsius dashboards and the key components of the BusinessObjects Enterprise Premium platform. It is licensed on a concurrent user access basis, starting at 5 concurrent users and allowing expansion up to a concurrency of 20.

The first offering, BOCD Standard, offers a fast, easy, out-of-the-Box installation and delivers a wealth of Business Intelligence functionality with Web Intelligence query and report development and analysis, Xcelsius dashboard viewing, Live Office integration with the Microsoft Office Suite, Encyclopedia, Scheduling and Auditing. In addition, you can deploy, interact with and manage Crystal Reports on the same server environment.

BOCD Standard is attractively priced with a low cost entry point, allowing small and medium companies to exploit the best of business intelligence functionality with minimal investment and then incrementally grow as the bottom line benefits of BI are realized.

Business Objects plans to release further BOCD packages containing more BI products, including Data Integrator, during 2007.

InfoBurst Taking Intelligent Report Distribution to New Heights for Customers Around the World

InfoBurst, the Business Intelligence Distribution and Publishing solution from InfoSol, is fast becoming a de facto standard for BusinessObjects and Crystal clients around the world.

As the product continues to add new features and functions, like integration with Xcelsius Dashboards, companies are finding more and more uses for improving their day-to-day report distribution and publishing needs.

The Credit Arm of a Leading Vehicle Manufacturer in Europe recently deployed InfoBurst to refresh, burst, and distribute a report of all leases currently being underwritten for each dealership in the country. They needed to automate the refreshing of this report, so it would be produced in 3 languages (German, French, Italian), and then send a customized e-mail, in the appropriate language, to each of the dealerships. The report is automatically burst by InfoBurst, so that each dealership just receives the leases issued for them. They also make use of the External Distribution List feature of InfoBurst to select which individual users will receive the report. In addition, the Country Manager receives a copy of the report in Excel and PDF.

A customer in Scandinavia, providing services to the Public Sector,just implemented InfoBurst to automatically schedule, burst, and distribute Web Intelligence XI R2 reports created from SAP BW to the county regional offices of its client. The one pass refresh with intelligent splitting and distribution of the parts of the Web Intelligence report, in different formats, was a feature the client could not find in any other product.

A Large Cleaning and Sanitizing Product Manufacturer in the U.S. is using InfoBurst to perform single refreshes of Crystal XI R2 reports created against universes, and bursting and publishing the different parts back to the repository for viewing through InfoView. This feature is not available in XI R2 itself, so InfoBurst provided a perfect solution.

A Financial Company in the U.S. recently purchased InfoBurst and plans to make extensive use of a brand new feature being developed that allows the merging of different tabs, of different PDF documents, into a single "PDF Book" that can be automatically sent to different users. With InfoBurst, they can automatically schedule and run a number of different Business Objects / Web Intelligence reports that will be published as PDF documents, each with some tabs that are customer specific. The customer tabs from the different reports can then be combined and merged into a single PDF document, so that the customer only receives the information relevant to them.

InfoSol continues to innovate and improve InfoBurst with more functional updates and releases due in 2007.

2006 was a year of strong sales of BusinessObjects licenses for InfoSol and resulted in an elevation of partner status from Gold to Platinum level, making InfoSol one of a small elite group of top Business Objects partners and resellers in North America.
