InfoSol Expands Environmentally Conscious Initiative with
New Carbon Footprint Dashboard

While InfoSol, along with many other companies, has implemented initiatives to be more environmentally friendly through recycling, plus reducing printing, driving, and electricity usage, we decided to take it a step further by applying our own Business Intelligence expertise to the task at hand. Using the Xcelsius visualization tool from Business Objects, InfoSol has created an interactive Carbon Footprint dashboard that can help, both businesses and individuals, calculate, monitor, and reduce the amount of carbon emissions they are contributing to the environment.

The first edition of the new Carbon Footprint dashboard is available on the InfoSol web site at www.infosol.com and can be utilized by everybody at no cost. We not only encourage you to make use of it, but we welcome your feedback on ways that we can improve it further.

Carbon Footprint Dashboard

View the Carbon Footprint Dashboard in Action

The InfoSol Carbon Footprint dashboard is multi-layered and provides different screens to calculate and monitor your carbon emissions in a range of areas, including Home Electrical, Home Fuel, Food and Waste, Travel by Air, and Travel by Car. You can see how much CO2 you currently produce through your activity, how you compare to the average person, and how much you can reduce this amount through taking certain actions.

InfoSol is currently working on further editions of the Carbon Footprint dashboard, with even more interactivity and dynamic links, to keep the data and calculations current. These further editions will also be available for individuals and corporations to download and utilize in their own environments.

The dashboard also highlights how the amazing Xcelsius tool can be used to create really neat solutions. InfoSol has created more than a hundred different dashboard and visualization solutions for clients, using Xcelsius, in the last two years.

InfoSol Offers 360View R2 for Better XI R2 Security Administration

Changing architecture from the classic BusinessObjects 5.x and 6.x releases to XI brought many performance and scalability advantages, along with many new features and functions.

However, as BusinessObjects Administrators have familiarized themselves with the new architecture and tools for managing it, a universal cry of despair has been heard from them regarding the security administration. The cry is usually accompanied by requests of “Bring back the old Supervisor!”

Business Objects did make efforts to help the situation, by releasing the BO Security Viewer, and there are some further improvements coming in the next release (3.0), but neither of these gives the BO Administrators what they really want.

Dynamic Security Matrix

Implement and manage your security using a dynamic matrix.

So, when InfoSol evaluated a new tool specifically developed for better XI R2 security administration, we were very excited. We were even more excited when we saw that not only did it bring back all the features from the old Supervisor, but it also included a wide variety of new functionality that will make BO Administrators jump for joy!

360View R2 is a highly intuitive, web-based tool for managing your XI R2 security configuration. It allows you to manage and use your own security profiles. You can implement and manage this security using a graphical dynamic matrix, making it simple to view existing security at a glance, and make changes with a simple click. Best of all, 360View R2 provides a complete and accurate view of your total deployed security for both a user and an object perspective. You can also define users and groups in Excel and then import them into the CMS using 360View R2, as well as auditing and documenting your deployed security by exporting to Excel (very useful for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance).

There is such great functionality in 360View R2; it just has to be seen to be believed.
