The big news last month was the release of the next version of BusinessObjects, known as BI 2025.
In addition, it marks the beginning of a new cadence of future BO software releases coming every two years and named after the year that it will be release in – BI 2027, BI 2029 etc..
The new version is packed with goodies as the new streamlined BusinessObjects focuses on Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports and its powerful underlying semantic layer and feature-rich administration platform.
I wrote about some of the key features in my blog BI 2025 – Lots to Look Forward To a couple of months ago.
While I don’t expect too many organizations to move to BI 2025 this year, I do expect a lot will download it on a sandbox and start to try it out in preparation for upgrading next year. While this is a good idea, an even better idea would be to attend the IBIS 2025 BusinessObjects conference in June and immerse yourself in the new release before you try it out on your own.
This year at IBIS 2025, there will be hands-on labs every day where you can try out BI 2025 with guided scripts and experts to assist you. The labs will run before and after the sessions as well as during the breaks and lunch so you will not miss out on all the great sessions on new features in BI 2025 as well as BI 4.3. Be sure to check out the updated agenda.
While there are 3 full days of keynotes with 45 break out sessions, the most valuable part of IBIS is being surrounded by and interacting with like-minded people.
The American journalist and author, Po Bronson, is quoted as saying, “There’s a powerful transformative effect when you surround yourself with like-minded people. Peer pressure is a great thing when it helps you accomplish your goals instead of distracting you from them”.
Nothing could be truer than that for the IBIS event. Everyone at IBIS is connecting over BusinessObjects and BI, exchanging stories and ideas and sharing knowledge. The atmosphere is contagious. People attending IBIS learn new and better ways to use and leverage BusinessObjects as well as connect with top SAP and BusinessObjects experts.
It’s the collaboration at IBIS that gets people excited and inspired. One IBIS attendee last year summed it up well saying, “It’s easy to feel alone and “silo-ed” if you’re one of the only people in your organization using BusinessObjects. But there is a whole community of other professionals out there who can help you with issues you encounter, provide examples of how to solve real-life problems, or just provide moral support. It’s amazing to meet these people in real life!”
IBIS is not a typical conference, it is smaller and more intimate and promotes interaction in the sessions, breaks and meals.
This year, it will be held at the breathtaking Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain Resort in Arizona from June 23-25.
If you use BusinessObjects, IBIS is the one must-attend event of the year where you will immerse yourself in everything BusinessObjects and be part of the BusinessObjects and LetsSpeakBO tribe.
