Anyone can build a dashboard. Wednesday, October 19

10:30 AM – 11:10 AM – How Korn Ferry Used BO Dashboards to Create a Tool for Measuring Client Profitability – Tyler Koitka, Korn Ferry

A glimpse into how Korn Ferry solved the measuring of client profitability using SAP BOBJ Xcelsius, Infosol Infoburst and Inovista Xcelsius add-ons. This solution provides our consultants, project managers and regional leaders instant access to data that provides:

  • A P&L view with an expendable/collapsible hierarchy at both client/project level.
  • Ability to drill from summarized to detail data that would take hours to download & compile in MS Excel.
  • A scorecard with alerts for projects that are considered success/failures.
  • Export of both client and project level data to MS Excel.

1:00 PM – 1:40 PM – Maps Made Easy for BusinessObjects – Ryan Goodman, CMapsAnalytics

Explore the top use cases and workflows for using maps with SAP BusinessObjects. Learn how to use out of the box maps for all BI tools and where to look for additional data, utilities, and extensions. With a plan and menu of available options, you can tackle your next maps requirements with confidence.

2:15 PM – 2:55 PM – Building a Custom Portal Utilizing BO and Infoburst – David Behr, USPI

USPI was looking to move away from a “Push” reporting model to building out a custom Enterprise Business Intelligence Portal where all end users can go to in order to see the reports and dashboards they need to make their necessary decisions and run their business. Utilizing Business Objects Infoview was the “out of the box” solution, but would require each user to consume a BO License to access their reports and dashboards. What if you could build an enterprise reporting portal that utilized the power of webi reports and xcelsius dashboards, and single sign on leveraging Active Directory, in order to build a robust EBI Portal that houses reports and interactive dashboards and doesn’t require a BO license? Come find out how USPI made this vision a reality.

3:30 PM – 4:10 PM – Advantages of Using IDT over UDT – Rajesh Ponnurangam, InfoSol

The Information Design Tools or IDT is a new semantic layer modeling tool from SAP. But the Universe Design Tool or UDT is still supported and delivered as part of BI Client tools. Join expert, Rajesh Ponnurangam, as he discusses and demonstrates: The advantages of using IDT versus UDT, new features and benefits in creating an IDT UNX Universe, what to do with old UNV universes, and the steps to creating an IDT universe.

Thursday October 20

9:00 AM – 9:40 AM – Integration of Tableau into BusinessObjects – Rajesh Ponnurangam, InfoSol

Learn how Tableau can connect to Business Objects Webi, Crystal and Deski reports via Infoburst. Deployment and scheduling of BO content to Tableau will be demonstrated. The use cases for Tableau dashboards with BO content will be discussed. And if we have time we may look at bursting out Tableau workbooks as well.

10:15 AM – 10:55 AM – Finally! BI-on-BI with SAP’s CMS Repository Universe (4.2 SP3) – Atul Chowdhury, Infolytik

Finally! BI-on-BI with SAP’s CMS Repository Universe (4.2 SP3) – Like a fine wine, it took SAP nearly 13 years to release a straight-forward yet sophisticated enough query tool that allows SAP BusinessObjects administrators to query their underlying platform that, unlike Query Builder, allows for simple, relational access to the encrypted and confusing Central Management System or CMS Repository. In this session, learn how to make use of this free tool and distill the many hidden jewels in your metadata, such as:

  • What users have logged on in over 6 months?
  • How much FRS space is used by reports by folder level?
  • What users have never logged on?
  • Which reports are being used by which universes?
  • Are there unused universes cluttering up my system?
  • What access levels have been assigned at the root level, and to whom?

11:30 AM – 12:10 PM – Innovative Dashboard Navigation Techniques – Roxanne Pittman, InfoSol

Navigating around a dashboard must be able to ‘flex’ when it comes to the needs of the data. Sometimes in the development process, logical groupings of the data are more apparent whereas other times we need to get creative in how we navigate to the data with a user-friendly and logical workflow in mind. Join us in a fantastic session with expert Dashboard Developer & Designer, Roxanne Pittman, as we explore dashboard navigation techniques that will guide developers in discovering innovative approaches to navigation in a dashboard project.
