Web Intelligence – Copying Data to MS Word, Excel, or PowerPoint

Question: In BusinessObjects XI R2, how do I copy Web Intelligence Report Data to other applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint?

Answer: In XI R2, you have the ability to copy data from a Web Intelligence report into other applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint. With this feature, you can copy entire report blocks (tables or charts) or specific data within a table.

Copying Data to an Excel Spreadsheet

If you want to copy a table or chart block as an image, select the entire block, right-click and select ‘Copy’.

Then, open your target application and paste. The block is pasted as an image in your Excel, Word or PowerPoint application. This process works the same with a chart block.

You can also copy the contents of a table to alternate applications. Choose the table, right-click and select ‘Copy as text’. This will copy the data within the table, not the underlying formulas. This process does not apply to charts.
